Privacy statement

LensaSim is an educational process-simulation tool. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data. This page explains, in plain terms, what we store and why.
What runs in your browser
The simulation engine, the component databank, your lesson progress and any project you have not synced to the cloud all run and live on your own device (in the browser). They are not sent to us unless you explicitly sign in and save to the cloud.
What we store when you have an account
If you create an account we store your email address (to sign you in and identify your work), any projects, classrooms, assignments and submissions you choose to save, and a count of AI usage (to enforce fair daily limits). Sign-in uses one-time email codes — we do not store passwords.
Third parties we rely on
We use a database provider to store the data above, an email provider to send sign-in codes, a payment processor (Stripe) if you subscribe, Anthropic's Claude API to power optional AI features, and Daily (daily.co) for the video rooms of assessments an employer holds live in LensaSim. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. Your flowsheet text is sent to the AI provider only when you use an AI feature.
If an employer assesses you
An employer who invites you to an assessment gives us your name and email address. When you submit, your flowsheet, your answers and your written reasoning go to that employer. LensaSim re-solves the flowsheet to check it. Where the exercise says so, the simulator keeps a short record of your solves and the analyses you open while the exercise is open, and sends it with your design. If the employer set rules for sitting it, we record when you pressed Start, when you submitted and that you confirmed the work as your own. For an assessment sat on the employer's video call, we also record that you confirmed you were on it. Where the employer holds the call in a LensaSim video room, the room is provided by Daily (daily.co): your name as the employer gave it is shown to the others in the call — the employer, and any colleagues they asked to join it as a panel — and we keep when you joined and how long you were in it, which the employer sees. The room is private to your call and is taken down after it. Nobody records the call, your camera or your screen. People at the employer read and rate your written answers, and they may compare them, without your name, with other candidates' answers. If the employer has switched on AI-drafted ratings for that exercise, your written answers, without your name or email address, are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to suggest a rating. A person at the employer checks the suggestion and decides every level. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API isn't used to train its models. We keep a log of who scored, rated or decided what, so a decision can be reviewed later. No hiring decision is made automatically. The employer decides, and requests for an adjustment or a human review go to them. We hold no demographic data about candidates. Your data is erased 365 days after the campaign closes, straight away if the employer deletes the campaign, and at any time if the employer erases it on your request. We keep a count that an invitation was sent, and nothing else about you.
If your lecturer sets you a test
A lecturer who sets you a test gives us your name and email address, or puts your LensaSim class on it. When you submit, your flowsheet, your answers and your written reasoning go to that lecturer and the markers they ask to help; LensaSim re-solves the flowsheet to check it. What the simulator records while you work, the rules you sit it under and any live call are handled as described above for an employer's assessment, with your lecturer in the employer's place. Your lecturer may record an adjustment for you (extra time, or a deadline of your own) and written feedback. Your mark is not decided automatically: your lecturer decides it, and you see your mark, grade and feedback only when they release results. If you opened the test from your institution's learning platform, your grade is sent back to it then. If your lecturer has switched on AI-drafted ratings, the same applies as above. Requests for an adjustment or a review go to your lecturer. Your work on a test is kept for 730 days after the test closes — long enough for an appeal or an exam board — then erased, sooner if your lecturer deletes the test or erases it on your request. We keep a count that you were assessed that academic year, and nothing else about you.
Anonymous usage analytics
To understand how LensaSim is used — for example, how many people visit the site each day and how many open and run the simulator — we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics). It counts page views and a few anonymous events (such as running a simulation) in aggregate. It sets no cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not collect personally identifying information.
What we don't do
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising. We do not use your saved work to train models.
Your choices
You can use the whole simulator and the guided lessons without an account. If you have an account, you can delete your projects and classrooms at any time, and request deletion of your account by emailing us. Local data clears when you clear your browser storage.
